Found this excellent ride through video of the Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. Really inspiring for haunters, especially if your doing a pirate theme this year:
Good dark ride videos are hard to find. Far too many of them are in night-vision, which just ruins the over all effect. Especially if it's of a haunt. Happy to say that was not the case here.

Summer Music, Part II
To me, summer is one of those times of year, that can, along with Halloween, be brought to mind with a simple piece of music. Last post I shared my #1 summer album; now I think I'll share some individual songs that, for whatever reason, always make me think of summer:
"American Witch" by Rob Zombie: "In the Room Where You Sleep" by Dead Man's Bones:
"Man of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys:
"Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown" by Rob Zombie: "Psychosocial" by Slipknot:

Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare 2014
It's official, Specters - this October, I, your humble Minister of the Macabre, will be flying to Phoenix, AZ, to experience Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare haunted house scream park! What's even cooler is that will be going with my long time friend and fellow blogger Sharon Day, of Ghost Hunting Theories!
As I reported last year, shock rocker and horror director Rob Zombie created a haunted theme park and music festival that premiered in LA, with three haunted houses, nightly rock concerts, and a monster infested midway. Needless to say, the event was hugely successful, and it seems the plan is that Great American Nightmare will now appear in a different city every year; for 2014, Phoenix, AZ.
The Great American Nightmare features three haunted houses, each one based on one of Zombie's movies - Lords of Salem: Total Blackout; Captain Spaulding's Clown School in 3D; and The Devil's Rejects.
Lords of Salem: Total Blackout
“This harrowing attraction—based on Zombie’s 2012 independent horror film The Lords of Salem—is designed to twist the mind. It will accentuate some senses while limiting others. Fear of the darkness, claustrophobia, and fear of the unknown will be preyed on as visitors attempt to traverse this sixty-degree maze.”

Captain Spaulding's Clown School in 3D
“This
irreverent school of pure terror is a hallucinogenic trip through the mind of
Captain Spaulding (House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects). Startle after
Startle will thoroughly frighten the bravest patrons, who won’t know if they
should be laughing, screaming or crying.”
The Devil's Rejects:
“The
murderous, backwoods Firefly family takes to the road to escape a vengeful
police force that isn’t afraid of being as ruthless as its target. Guests will
become part of the state troopers’ search and destroy mission against the
Firefly family, who are wanted for over 75 homicides and disappearances.”
There will also be a midway, called "Bloody Blvd." home to freakshows, roaming monsters, an outdoor movie theatre, rock concerts, and a helluva lot more. Needless to say, I am STOKED about flying out to see this thing in October, as well as finally getting to meet Sharon face to face. Arizona will never be the same!

The Nobelist Pofession
“Depend upon it, after all, Thomas, Literature is the
most noble of professions. In fact, it is about the only one fit for a man. For
my own part, there is no seducing me from the path.” – Edgar Allan Poe, in a
letter to Frederick W. Thomas, 1849

70th Anniversary of D-Day
Today, we remember the brave men who fought and gave their lives at one of the most important battles not only in WWII, but in history. Because of their sacrifices, the world is free from the tyranny of Nazism. Because of them, we are here. Gentlemen, I salute you!

A Farewell to Hauntcast
Today, we bid farewell to Hauntcast, a truly awesome podcast that was dead-icated to Haunters and Halloween Fanatics the world over. It will deeply missed by its Minions and the Haunting community. I remember the first time I listened to Hauntcast; it was a balmy summer afternoon, and I'd been hearing a lot of buzz online about the show. Finally, I decided to give it a listen. From the moment the show began, a big ole smile crept across my face and I knew I was in for a good time. I was completely hooked, and listened to the show eagerly every time a new episode was released. When they announced the show was being cancelled, I was really disappointed. I had grown to love the show, it was constant reminder that (as I grew up in a environment that didn't exactly encourage a dark imagination) there were other people out there, who were into the same weird stuff I was into. Then came the Resurrection, and the show was brought back for another awesome couple of seasons. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and so today, Hauntcast has aired its last. I'm just glad I was here while it was all happening. Goodbye, Hauntcast. It's been fun!
